Let’s talk about accent reduction.
I no longer take on clients who are seeking accent reduction for corporate or professional needs outside of theatrical productions. Is there anything wrong with this kind of work? Absolutely not! There’s a great demand for it as many industries shift to increasingly global models, and I respect the hell out of anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort - both physical and mental! - to learn a new speaking skill set for themself. It’s truly admirable. However, my moral compass feels a bit misaligned when working with accent reduction/modification. While I can recognize the importance of the work for many individuals, I must also recognize that I am not the best person for jobs like these. If this is the service you are looking for, I know many wonderful professionals whose info I’d delightedly share with you. As long as you don’t mind me bragging a bit about how cool they are in the referral process.
